Welcome!

I am a literary scholar researching fairy tales, Victorian fiction, and the history of representations of queer desire between women. Currently, I’m an independent scholar in Seattle, Washington; I was until spring 2022 an Associate Professor of English at McKendree University, where I taught writing, literature, and film. A graduate of Middlebury College and the University of Washington, I have published articles in venues including Brontë Studies, Marvels & Tales: Journal of Fairy-Tale Studies, Journal of Lesbian Studies, and Public Books. I am working on a monograph entitled The Brontës and the Fairy Tale and have begun a second monograph on relationships between women in nineteenth-century British fiction.
